Sometimes the speed is the given and the distance is the mystery. One formula, turned around: $d = v\,t$ — read aloud, d equals v t. A speed held for a time piles up distance: 3 metres every second, for 10 seconds, is 30 metres. Multiplication is just the piling-up written down.

Here is your built-in lie detector for rearrangements — check the units: $\mathrm{m/s} \times \mathrm{s} = \mathrm{m}$. The seconds cancel and plain metres remain, exactly what a distance wears. Mind the one-way rule though: if the units refuse to cancel to the answer's units, the rearrangement is WRONG, no appeal — but units that work out don't prove it right. They guide; they don't confess.
