dL
deciliter
Volumeexact by definition
The decilitre is a tenth of a litre, 100 millilitres, exactly 10⁻⁴ cubic metres. It is a standard measure in continental European cookery and in clinical chemistry, where blood analyte concentrations are conventionally reported per decilitre.
Watch out: Clinical results in mg/dL and mmol/L are the same measurement in different units, and the conversion is analyte-specific because it depends on molar mass. Blood glucose of 100 mg/dL is 5.55 mmol/L; the same numeric conversion applied to cholesterol is wrong.
