The decitex is one tenth of a tex, the mass in grams of 10,000 metres, exactly 10⁻⁷ kg/m. It is the working unit of synthetic filament production: a fine polyester filament is 1 to 3 dtex, and the sheerness of hosiery is quoted in it.
