inch-pound
Energyexact by definition
The inch-pound is the work done by one pound-force acting through one inch, exactly 0.1129848290276167 joules, one twelfth of a foot-pound. It appears in small fastener and spring energy calculations and in impact test specifications.
Watch out: Inch-pounds of ENERGY and inch-pounds of TORQUE are numerically identical and physically different, exactly as joules and newton metres are. A torque wrench reading in in·lb is not measuring energy. This site keeps them in separate types for that reason, and the torque version lives under Torque.
