kPa·s
kilopascal second
Dynamic viscosityexact by definition
The kilopascal second is 10³ Pa·s, exact by prefix. It is the scale of polymer melts, bitumen and heavy pastes: a polyethylene melt in an extruder runs from a few hundred Pa·s to several kPa·s depending on shear rate.
Watch out: Everything at this viscosity is strongly non-Newtonian, so a single number is only meaningful with the shear rate and temperature attached. A melt viscosity quoted without both is not a material property.
