The millidioptre is one thousandth of a dioptre, a lens power corresponding to a focal length of one thousand metres. It appears in precision optical metrology and in research on small refractive changes, well below the 0.25 dioptre steps used in ordinary prescriptions. The factor of 1e-3 is exact, being an SI prefix.
