The liquid counterpart to weighing out a dry product, and the more common case now that most modern formulations are suspension concentrates, emulsifiable concentrates or soluble liquids. The arithmetic is identical: the label's volume rate times the area one tank covers.

Measuring is where the accuracy is lost. A graduated jug read at eye level is fine; the moulded marks on the side of a product container are not, since they are indicative rather than calibrated, and reading a viscous concentrate against them while it clings to the wall is guesswork. Triple-rinse the measuring vessel into the tank, because a concentrate left in the jug is both an underdose on the field and a disposal problem afterwards. For small volumes — many modern actives are applied at well under a litre per hectare — a syringe is far more accurate than any jug.

Mixing order matters more with liquids than people expect, and getting it wrong looks exactly like a product failure. The general sequence is water first to about half, then agitate, then products in the order: water-dispersible granules, wettable powders, suspension concentrates, then soluble liquids, then emulsifiable concentrates, and adjuvants last. Adding an emulsifiable concentrate to a tank that already holds an unincorporated powder is the classic route to a curdled mix that blocks every screen on the boom.
