dm³/mol
cubic decimeter per mole
Molar volumeexact by definition
The cubic decimeter per mole is 10⁻³ m³/mol, exactly the litre per mole under the name IUPAC prefers. The molar volume of an ideal gas is 22.414 dm³/mol at 0 °C and 101.325 kPa, and 24.055 at 25 °C.
Watch out: The famous 22.4 figure is for the old STP of 0 °C and 1 atm. IUPAC changed standard pressure to 100 kPa in 1982, which makes the molar volume 22.711 dm³/mol at 0 °C. Chemistry syllabuses have never fully agreed on which to teach.
