meq/100 g
milliequivalent per 100 grams
Molalityexact by definition
The milliequivalent per 100 grams is exactly 10⁻² mol/kg of equivalents, numerically identical to cmol(+)/kg. It is the older soil science unit for cation exchange capacity, and the numerical identity is why the field could switch to SI without reprinting a single number.
Watch out: Because the values do not change, older and newer soil reports look the same and are the same. The only thing to check is that neither has been quietly converted twice.
