PBq
petabecquerel
Radioactivityexact by definition
The petabecquerel is 10¹⁵ Bq. It is the unit accident releases are counted in: Chernobyl released roughly 5200 PBq of assorted radionuclides, and Fukushima's atmospheric release of iodine-131 was around 150 PBq.
Watch out: Comparing accidents by total PBq mixes together nuclides with wildly different half-lives and biological behaviour. A petabecquerel of noble gas and a petabecquerel of caesium-137 are not comparable consequences.
