erg/G
erg per gauss
Magnetic momentexact by definition
The erg per gauss is the CGS electromagnetic unit of magnetic moment, often written simply as emu in magnetometry. One erg per gauss is exactly 1e-3 joules per tesla, since an erg is exactly 1e-7 joules and a gauss exactly 1e-4 tesla. The conversion is exact by definition of the CGS units.
Watch out: Magnetometer output labelled emu is this unit, and magnetisation quoted as emu per gram or emu per cubic centimetre carries it too. The bare label emu is used for several different CGS quantities in different contexts, so the accompanying quantity name matters more than the abbreviation.
