foot pound-force per pound

Specific latent heat

The foot pound-force per pound is 2.989066923 J/kg, the specific energy that falls out of US pump work: a pump head of one foot delivers one ft·lbf per pound of fluid. It is why "head in feet" and "specific energy" are the same statement in imperial practice.

Watch out: Pound-force per pound-mass looks dimensionless and is not. The conversion carries standard gravity inside it, so the identity of head with specific energy only holds at g = 9.80665 m/s².
