MJ/kg
megajoule per kilogram
Specific latent heatexact by definition
The megajoule per kilogram is 10⁶ J/kg exactly, the unit of fuel energy content. Diesel is about 45.6 MJ/kg, natural gas 53, hydrogen 120, and a lithium-ion cell around 0.9.
Watch out: Fuel figures come as higher or lower heating value, and the gap is the latent heat of the water in the exhaust. For natural gas it is about 10%. A quoted MJ/kg is meaningless without knowing which.
