km/h/s
kilometer per hour per second
Accelerationexact by definition
A kilometre per hour per second is exactly 1/3.6 m/s², about 0.278 m/s². It is how vehicle acceleration is reported where it will be read by drivers: a car gaining 10 km/h every second is pulling about 2.78 m/s², or 0.28 g.
Watch out: The unit contains two different times and is easy to mangle. It is (km/h) per second, not km per (h·s), and cancelling carelessly gives an answer 3,600 times wrong. Rail and transit specifications often prefer it precisely because passengers understand speed in km/h.
