MV

megavolt

Voltageexact by definition

The megavolt is one million volts. HVDC transmission runs at plus or minus 0.8 MV on the longest links, impulse withstand testing goes to a few megavolts, and a lightning channel develops something on the order of 100 MV before it breaks down. The factor of 1e6 is exact, being an SI prefix.

Watch out: Air breaks down at roughly 3 MV per metre in a uniform field and far less across a contaminated or wet surface. A megavolt figure on test equipment describes the generator, not a distance you may safely stand at.
