The mole per cubic metre is the coherent SI unit of molar concentration: moles of solute per cubic metre of solution. Its factor of 1 is exact. It is numerically identical to the millimole per litre, since a cubic metre is a thousand litres, which is why chemists almost always work in mol/L or mmol/L instead.
