Mass measures how much matter you have; weight is the gravitational force on it. A 70 kg person weighs 70 × 9.80665 ≈ 687 N on Earth — but only about 114 N on the Moon, with the same mass. The g used here, 9.80665 m/s², is the standard gravity fixed exactly by international agreement in 1901.
