megaohm

Resistanceexact by definition

The megaohm is one million ohms. It is the unit of insulation testing, high-impedance instrument inputs, and the resistivity of purified water, where an ultrapure sample is quoted as 18.2 megaohm centimetres at 25 degrees Celsius. The factor of 1e6 is exact, being an SI prefix.

Watch out: Insulation resistance readings in megaohms are strongly temperature and humidity dependent and change with the applied test voltage and with how long the voltage has been applied. Two readings are only comparable if both conditions match.
