The micromho per centimetre is numerically identical to the microsiemens per centimetre, exactly 1e-4 siemens per metre. It is the unit older water quality instruments printed and the one that historic USGS and municipal records are written in. The conversion is exact.
Watch out: Because the numbers are identical, a legacy record in micromhos per centimetre can be read straight across as microsiemens per centimetre with no arithmetic. What does need checking is the reference temperature: older data is sometimes reported at 18 degrees Celsius rather than the modern 25.
