V/cm\text{V/cm}

volt per centimeter

Electric field strengthexact by definition

One volt per centimetre, equal to 100 V/m exactly. It is the working unit of electrophoresis, electrostatic precipitation and laboratory breakdown work, where gaps are centimetres and voltages are kilovolts.

Watch out: Air's breakdown strength is about 30 kV/cm, and the same figure written 3 MV/m or 3 kV/mm looks like three different quantities. Convert before comparing.
