Electric field strengthexact by definition
One volt per millimetre, equal to 1000 V/m exactly and therefore identical to one kilovolt per metre. It is the unit printed on insulation datasheets in the lower ranges, and on creepage and clearance tables.
Why it is written : V/mm and kV/m are the same unit written two ways, and both are in circulation. Insulation people write V/mm because their thicknesses are millimetres; power people write kV/m because their clearances are metres.
