Learning zone
Stand on Venus and you would weigh nine tenths of what you weigh at home — by far the closest match to Earth gravity anywhere in the solar system. Venus is also the one planet where the distinction between gravity and effective gravity vanishes: rotating once in 243 days, it has essentially no centrifugal correction and no equatorial bulge, so 8.87 m/s² holds pole to equator.
Nothing else about standing there is survivable. The 92-bar atmosphere means the familiar gravity comes with the pressure of 900 metres of ocean, and it makes the air dense enough — about 65 kg/m³ at the surface — that walking would feel like wading. The Soviet Venera landers, crush-proofed like submarines, transmitted for at most two hours before the 737 K heat killed them; their handful of surface photographs are still the only ones in existence.
