L/d
liter per day
Volumetric flow rateexact by definition
The litre per day is a slow-flow unit used for dosing pumps, leak rates, small-scale water consumption and per capita demand figures. It equals exactly 1/86400000 cubic metres per second, since the day is exactly 86400 seconds and the litre exactly one cubic decimetre. The conversion is exact by definition.
Watch out: Chemical metering pumps are usually rated in litres per hour or millilitres per minute, and a daily figure assumes continuous operation. A pump that runs on a duty cycle delivers its daily total in a fraction of the day at a much higher instantaneous rate.
