mF
millifarad
Capacitanceexact by definition
The millifarad is one thousandth of a farad, equal to 1000 microfarads. It is a legitimate SI multiple but is rarely printed on parts, because the electronics industry writes the same value as microfarads instead. The factor of 1e-3 is exact, being an SI prefix.
Watch out: Because mF on older parts, especially motor and HVAC capacitors, was a common abbreviation for microfarad, a marking of mF should be treated as ambiguous and confirmed against the equipment rating rather than assumed to be millifarads.
