The millibar is one thousandth of a bar, exactly 100 pascals, and therefore exactly one hectopascal. It remains the everyday pressure unit in aviation, marine forecasting and vacuum work, and North American weather reporting never really let go of it.
Watch out: Rough and medium vacuum is quoted in mbar across most of the world and in Torr in the United States. One millibar is 0.75 Torr, so the two scales are close enough to look interchangeable at a glance and are not.
