slug/ft³

slug per cubic foot

Densityexact by definition

The slug per cubic foot is exactly 515.37881839... kilograms per cubic metre. It is the density unit of US aerodynamics, because the slug is the mass unit that lets dynamic pressure and lift come out in pounds-force with no conversion constant: sea level standard air is 0.0023769 slug/ft³.

Watch out: The same air is 0.0765 lb/ft³ on the mass-pound convention, and the two figures differ by 32.174. Mixing a density in lb/ft³ into a lift equation written for slugs overstates the answer by that factor, which is the single most common unit error in customary aerodynamics.
