The tonne per hour is one thousand kilograms per hour, or exactly 5/18 kilograms per second. It is the standard throughput unit for bulk materials handling, conveyors, crushers, mills and industrial furnaces. The conversion is exact, the tonne being exactly 1000 kilograms.
Watch out: The tonne here is the metric tonne of exactly 1000 kilograms, not the US short ton of 2000 pounds (907.18474 kg) or the imperial long ton of 2240 pounds (1016.0469088 kg). The three differ by up to 12 percent, and North American bulk handling literature frequently means short tons.
