in/s
inch per second

The inch per second is exactly 0.0254 metres per second. It is the standard unit of machine vibration severity in North America, where overall velocity in inches per second is the headline number on a route-based monitoring report, and it is the unit of actuator and tape speed.
Watch out: Vibration velocity is quoted several ways from the same waveform: peak, peak-to-peak and RMS. A reading of 0.3 in/s means nothing until it says which, and the ISO 10816 severity bands are stated in RMS millimetres per second, so a straight numeric comparison across standards is unsafe.
