kilojoule

Energyexact by definition

The kilojoule is exactly 1000 joules, an exact SI prefix relation. It is the food energy unit on labels in most of the world outside the United States, and the working unit of thermodynamics tables, where specific enthalpies are quoted in kJ/kg.

Watch out: A food label quoting both kJ and kcal is not giving two measurements but one, converted: 1 kcal is exactly 4.184 kJ under the thermochemical definition used for nutrition. A 2000 kcal daily intake is 8368 kJ.
