imperial quart

Volumeexact by definition

The imperial quart is exactly a quarter of an imperial gallon, 1.1365225 litres, or two imperial pints. It appears in British and Commonwealth recipes and older engineering specifications, and it is about 20% larger than the US quart.

Watch out: The US quart is 0.9464 L, close enough to a litre that people substitute them; the imperial quart is not, being 14% over a litre. Substituting a litre for an imperial quart underfills by an eighth.
