bu
US bushel
Volumeexact by definition
The US bushel is exactly 2,150.42 cubic inches, 35.23907016688 litres. It is a dry measure and the standard trading unit for grain in North America, where corn, wheat and soybean prices, yields and futures contracts are all quoted per bushel.
Watch out: Grain is traded by bushel but weighed, not measured, using a legal test weight per bushel that differs by crop: 60 lb for wheat and soybeans, 56 lb for corn and rye, 48 lb for barley, 32 lb for oats. A "bushel of corn" in a contract is 56 pounds of corn, and the volume is incidental. The imperial bushel is also different, at 36.369 L.
