The US tablespoon is exactly half a US fluid ounce, 14.78676478125 millilitres, three US teaspoons. It is the standard measure for dosing and for recipe quantities too large for a teaspoon and too small for a cup.
Watch out: Tablespoons are not international. The US is 14.79 mL, the metric standard 15 mL, the UK traditional tablespoon 17.76 mL, and the Australian tablespoon 20 mL. A recipe crossing borders can be a fifth out on every measured ingredient.
